More cute kids

Clearly, I've dropped the ball on the India updates. I had big plans of in a timely manner, writing about each city we visited. I started out okay...then nice weather happened. Now I've been back nearly 5 months, and I have yet to write about Udaipur and Varanasi, my two favorites. Of course I have the photos and my journal to help me remember the big stuff, but I feel like so many of the smaller things are forgotten. I try to write some of those in my journal (like about a cute animal I saw, or the hot guy departing on a train in Varanasi, and the story I made up in my head about him, or the awkwardness we had with the various drivers) so that I remember more from my trips than the Lonely Planetesque highlights. I'm usually so exhausted when I'm traveling that I do good just to write down a bit about what I did each day. While flipping through my journal, I found this from February 2009  in Morocco "A few nights ago in Rabat, a super cute girl came up and kissed my cheek. I have no idea why." That's the kind of stuff I want to remember.

So this morning, I sat down with my computer and external hard drive, determined to sort out the Udaipur pictures I wanted to use on here. But, I got sidetracked looking through all the pictures and videos I've taken over the past 5 years. Then I started reading through old blog entries. My kiddies were seriously seriously cute, case in point.

I'm getting seriously burned out with restaurant work right now, so I'm definitely sporting the rose colored glasses when thinking of times in my life that didn't involve using my high pitched waitress voice while strangers talk down to me. Korean parents talked down to me, but at least when they did it, it was in a language I didn't understand, and they later bought me things like expensive beauty products and chocolate to ensure I still doted on their children.

Job please

Subbing is starting again soon. I've continued my job search, to no avail thus far. Ho hum.

I was hoping to hang up my substitute teacher shoes before the start of this year, but it looks as though that will not be the case right now. So I've been contacting schools, letting them know that YES, I AM AVAILABLE TO SUB THIS YEAR, AND I REALLY CAN'T WAIT!

This is me on mornings I sub.

My desire to leave the country again is growing by the day. However, I know that when (if) I returned to the US, I'd find myself in this same unemployed chez mes parents predicament. So despite the fact I know I could have a job and be in Korea in less than two weeks, or a different less neon country in a month or two, I'm trying to be a responsible adult. Lame.

I've been learning a lot on my job hunt though. The most important thing is that that whole "the degree is the important thing, it doesn't matter what it's in" thing is a LIE, at least if your degree is in social sciences education. Given my non football coach status, I'm not even sure I'd qualify for a social sciences teaching job. I might as well have gotten a degree in religion or philosophy.

Good Morning America is showing a clip of the movie From Justin to Kelly. And with that, I'm out.
