SOOO...I got my visa. That involved a whole lot of waiting in a tiny little room on the 37th floor of a building I've walked by a million times but had no idea the French consulate was located there. But I got it, now tomorrow I need to mail a copy of it to my school, or something like that. I guess I should probably check on that.
Today at work a bar customer started telling me that I should be demanding legal representation from the French government while I'm there because it's hard telling what kind of trouble I'll get into because the culture is just entirely different over there. I kind of just had to hold back a laugh. Because while I know that it is a different culture, it's WESTERN EUROPE. It's not like I'm venturing into North Korea or something. She was like "I know you'll be fine, but I'm just trying to look out for you" And then she didn't leave me any tip. I kind of wanted to chase her out to the parking lot and tell her that if she really wanted to look out for me, she could contribute financially to the "Help Laura eat as she is going to be a poor expatriate in 7 short weeks fund"
7 weeks from right now I'll be on a plane probably over Canada or the Atlantic right now. Yikes a bee!
